The International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA) is a global forum launched in 2019 with support from the European Commission to promote collaboration between blockchain industry stakeholders and policymakers. The organization focuses on developing transparent governance models for blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) while facilitating regulatory dialogue and convergence across jurisdictions.
INATBA operates through several specialized working groups and task forces addressing key areas like digital credentials, standardization, and sustainability. Notable initiatives include the Digital Credentials Task Force which works on enabling cross-border interoperability and mutual support for digital credentials while ensuring privacy and self-sovereignty. The organization maintains a Governmental Advisory Body (GAB) with representatives from over 40 government entities and an Academic Advisory Body comprising 64 members from 20 countries, helping bridge public and private sector perspectives on blockchain adoption.
The association has established itself as an influential voice in blockchain policy development, particularly in Europe, contributing to regulations like the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) and the Transfer of Funds Regulation (TFOR). Through its various programs like BC100+ and the CHAISE Project, INATBA works to advance blockchain skills development and promote use cases aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The organization regularly convenes stakeholders through conferences, working groups, and its podcast series to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across the blockchain ecosystem.
