UltraPass ID is a decentralized trust platform launched in 2023 that focuses on facilitating secure data sharing between government agencies, businesses, and individuals using verifiable credentials. The platform is built on top of Trinsic's infrastructure and implements the W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model standard to enable credential issuance, verification, and management through digital wallets.

The platform's core technical features include:

  • Web-based digital wallets for credential storage and management
  • Credential marketplace for publishing and selecting credential templates
  • UAuth Protocol for biometric authentication and identity verification
  • Support for both custodial and non-custodial wallet solutions
  • Integration with OpenID Connect flows for authentication
  • Cross-jurisdiction data sharing capabilities

A notable implementation of UltraPass ID is its partnership with the City of Los Angeles, where it is being used to streamline the verification process for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) ahead of the 2028 Olympics. The system allows businesses to receive DBE certification credentials in their digital wallets and share them instantly with the city's procurement system, replacing a previously weeks-long manual verification process.

Example Implementation: City of Los Angeles uses UltraPass ID to verify DBE credentials for procurement processes, reducing verification time from weeks to instant verification through digital credentials.

The platform emphasizes privacy and data sovereignty by:

  • Keeping biometric data encrypted and stored locally on devices
  • Using homomorphic encryption for biometric processing
  • Allowing users to maintain control over credential sharing
  • Supporting standards-based interoperability with other digital identity systems

Tech Stack Self Description
Source
UltraPass uses Trinsic as its underlying infrastructure for provisioning and managing web-based digital wallets, as well as managing the credential lifecycle from credential creation, issuance, verification, and revocation. With Trinsic as its IDtech infrastructure partner, UltraPass can focus on building great digital experiences for its customers rather than spending hours reinventing the wheel. Additionally, Trinsic’s offerings provided the power of verifiable credentials out-of-the-box without forcing UltraPass to compromise on its vision and ideals of being interoperable and participating in an open ecosystem.
