Mein Bildungsraum

Mein Bildungsraum is a digital infrastructure project launched in 2023 by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to create an integrated digital education ecosystem. The platform combines Self-Sovereign Identity technology with educational services through five core components: Digital Identities, Wallet App, Digital Documentation, Data Space, and Showroom.

The technical implementation is built on the enmeshed framework, which provides end-to-end encryption and Zero Knowledge Proof capabilities for secure data exchange. Key features include:

• Single Sign-On authentication across educational platforms
• Digital credential management through a personal wallet
• Verifiable credentials for educational certificates
• Integration with existing learning management systems
• Compliance with eIDAS 2.0 standards

The project has received significant government backing as one of 18 flagship initiatives in Germany's digital strategy, with €630 million in funding through the German Recovery and Resilience Plan. Notable implementations include partnerships with:

• Society for Academic Study Preparation and Test Development

The platform entered beta testing in October 2023 with initial features focused on digital credential management and secure data exchange between educational institutions. Development continues with an emphasis on open standards, data sovereignty, and interoperability across the German education sector.
