IBM Digital Credentials

IBM Digital Credentials is a blockchain-based platform launched in 2021 that enables organizations to issue, manage, and verify digital credentials using Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs). The platform aligns with the Trust over IP dual stack data model and supports multiple interoperability profiles across three foundational layers: public utilities, peer-to-peer protocols, and data exchange. It implements the W3C Verifiable Credentials standard and can be deployed across multiple cloud platforms while supporting various verifiable data registries, including both blockchain and non-blockchain technologies.

A notable implementation of the platform is seen in the New York State's Excelsior Pass Plus system, which uses IBM Digital Credentials to provide secure digital proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The system leverages blockchain technology to ensure that health credentials remain:
