e-Origin Wallet

e-Origin Wallet is a digital identity solution focused on customs compliance and trade documentation for cross-border e-commerce. The platform uses Self-Sovereign Identity technology built on the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) to enable secure sharing of verifiable credentials between manufacturers, customs brokers, and authorities.

The core technical implementation consists of a web application and API that allows users to publish, certify and consult product information through digital wallets. The solution implements the W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model and integrates with EBSI for credential issuance and verification. Key features include:

• Cloud-based SSI agents for each participating organization
• Schema/credential definition catalog for standardized trade documents
• Integration with EBSI DID methods and protocols
• Automated compliance checking using AI for customs declarations

The project is being developed by e-Origin, a Belgian company, with support from the Walloon region and in collaboration with the University of Liège and University of Mons. It is currently being piloted at Liège Airport, a major European e-commerce hub, with plans to launch in 2024. The platform aims to reduce customs compliance issues and speed up declaration processes by enabling trusted digital exchange of trade documentation between supply chain participants.
