Summary
Source

Credential Master was a verifiable credentials management platform founded in 2019 that was acquired by Salesforce in November 2021. The platform focused on enterprise-scale management of W3C Verifiable Credentials (VCs) through a unique approach that separated credential management from cryptographic processing operations.

The platform's core technical architecture featured:

  • Universal Interoperability with:
    • Multiple wallet types (including Evernym, Trinsic, and esatus AG)
    • Various ledger systems and databases
    • Different VC standards (ZKP, JWT, JSON-LD)
  • Enterprise Management Features:
    • Bulk issuance and revocation handling
    • Automated workflows and policy enforcement
    • Reporting and compliance tools
    • Integration capabilities with HR, ERP and student information systems

After the acquisition, Salesforce integrated Credential Master's technology into its Safety Cloud platform, focusing on health credential verification use cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. The system was notably used to verify over 8,000 vaccination credentials and administer 21,500 COVID-19 tests for Salesforce's Dreamforce events. The platform supported integration with SMART Health Cards and EU Digital COVID Certificates standards, demonstrating its flexibility in handling different credential formats and verification requirements.

Tech Stack Self Description
Source
The VC Operations Stack slices the VC stack in a new way, separating VC “management” (administration) from VC “processing” (cryptographic operations). This reduces vendor lock-in, increases autonomy over source data, and enables vendors to focus on what they do best.
