Summary
Source

Vectis is a self-sovereign wallet infrastructure project launched in 2023 that combines non-custodial cryptocurrency functionality with digital identity features. Built using CosmWasm smart contracts, it implements account abstraction to enhance user experience while maintaining security and compliance capabilities.

The core technical architecture consists of three main components: a Proxy smart contract that handles on-chain interactions, a Controller entity managing authentication through Passkey support, and extensible Plugins that enable features like pre-transaction checks, post-transaction hooks, and fine-grained authorizations. The wallet integrates with W3C standards and supports Self-Sovereign Identity protocols at the transaction level, allowing users to manage Verifiable Credentials and provide zero-knowledge proofs for compliant interactions with decentralized applications.

Key technical features include:

  • Seedless accounts using device-native security features
  • Browser-based implementation requiring no external extensions
  • Multi-device support through Passkey/Apple iCloud integration
  • Guardianship system for key recovery and account freezing
  • Plugin architecture for customizable automation and security rules
  • Integration with eIDAS and other regulatory frameworks

The project received funding through the NGI ESSIF-lab program and was initially deployed on the Neutron network, with plans for broader interchain support.
