Summary

Seoul Wallet is a blockchain-based digital identity and public service application launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in July 2021. The platform implements Self-Sovereign Identity principles using W3C DID standards to provide citizens with control over their digital credentials and administrative documents.

The technical infrastructure leverages blockchain technology for distributed data storage and includes several key components:

  • Hecate DID for personal identity authentication
  • Hecate Connector for blockchain and internal systems integration
  • Morpheus Platform for the integrated development environment
  • QR-based verification system for credential presentation

Key features include:

  • Storage and submission of over 100 types of digital credentials
  • Welfare service eligibility verification
  • Seoul Pass authentication service
  • Mobile ID capabilities
  • Integration with Shinhan Bank for lease-related services

The platform has evolved since launch with new features like "Leesa-on" (Move-in) service that streamlines housing-related administrative processes. Notable adoption includes integration with government services like Government 24 portal and partnerships with financial institutions for lease documentation. The project represents a significant implementation of blockchain-based digital identity in public services, though specific usage statistics are not publicly available.

Tech Stack Self Description
Source
Instead of a centralized method of storing data in one place, the Seoul Wallet app stores data in a distributed manner using blockchain technology to prevent forgery and falsification, and further enhances personal information protection and reliability by recording where the certificate is used and whether it has been viewed. The characteristic is that it was done. Euracle implemented an integrated development environment using the Morpheus platform to build the Seoul Wallet app, and applied 'Hecate Connector' to link blockchain and internal systems and 'Hecate DID' for personal identity authentication.
