Empowering a billion people with a trusted Self-Sovereign Identity.
Summary
Source

myBID is a decentralized digital identity platform launched in 2023 that implements Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) principles based on the European Self-Sovereign Identity Framework (ESSIF) and European Electronic Identification and Trusts Services (eIDAS 2.0) standards. The platform leverages Hyperledger Indy and Hyperledger Aries frameworks to provide a blockchain-based identity management infrastructure that supports W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials.

The technical architecture consists of multiple layers:

  • Identity Hub for encrypted data aggregation and sharing
  • Digital Identity Wallet for credential management
  • Universal Verifier for credential validation
  • Transaction Execution & Consensus layer built on public blockchain

In 2023, myBID partnered with Griffith University to establish the National Digital Innovation Launchpad (NDIL) program targeting Pacific Island nations. This initiative aims to implement digital identity solutions for:

  • e-KYC systems
  • Electronic medical records
  • Government services access
  • Disaster preparedness systems

The platform emphasizes user-centric data ownership and interoperability while adhering to European privacy standards. Its modular architecture allows for flexible implementation across different use cases while maintaining security through blockchain-based verification and encryption. The project is currently in early deployment stages with initial rollouts planned for 2024.
