ID&Trust Kft. developed GoodID in 2017 as a digital identity wallet solution focused on secure remote customer identification and electronic contracting. The system implements biometric authentication through features like liveness detection and supports NFC reading of identity documents. The platform is designed to comply with European regulations including eIDAS and the EU's 'Digital Identity for Europe' initiative.

The technical architecture of GoodID includes several core components: a mobile wallet application for storing and sharing digital credentials, an enterprise integration layer for business systems, and support for qualified electronic signatures through integration with qualified electronic signature creation devices. The platform implements Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and supports PSD2 strong customer authentication requirements. Notable technical features include:

  • OCR and NFC scanning for 10,000+ document types
  • Direct data connection with cloud and client-based systems
  • KYC (Know Your Customer) pre-identification services
  • Support for both online and on-site authentication flows

ID&Trust has established itself as a significant player in the digital identity space, having developed several major identity systems including:

  • The Hungarian electronic identity card (eID)
  • The Italian electronic identity card
  • The Japanese electronic passport
  • The Romanian health card

The platform has gained adoption particularly in the financial services sector, with implementations at institutions like Patika Health Insurance Fund for remote customer identification and compliance with anti-money laundering regulations.
