G3C (Good Conduct Certificate Credential) is a digital identity solution developed by Credenco B.V. that focuses on digitizing Certificates of Good Conduct in the Netherlands using Self-Sovereign Identity technology. The project implements the W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model and integrates with several key eSSIF-Lab components including the Verifier Universal Interface, Presentation Exchange Credential Query, and SSI eIDAS bridge. The system is designed to be compatible with eIDAS 2.0 standards for cross-border transactions.

The technical architecture consists of three main components:

  • A verifiable credential schema for digital Certificates of Good Conduct
  • The Credenco Platform for issuing and verifying credentials
  • A digital wallet enabling holders to share certificates with employers and institutions

The solution incorporates several advanced features:

  • Privacy-preserving data control compliant with GDPR
  • Automated straight-through processing of credentials
  • Tamper-evident verification
  • Revocation support for credentials
  • Integration with OpenID Connect and other standard protocols

The project has received notable backing through the European Union's Horizon 2020 research program via the eSSIF-Lab initiative (grant agreement No 871932). Credenco has partnered with Justis (Dutch Ministry of Justice) to pilot the technology, and has joined the Dutch Blockchain Coalition to further develop secure and verifiable information transfer solutions. The system is being tested by several large organizations in the Netherlands, where over 1 million organizations process these certificates annually.
