Summary

DIZME is a decentralized digital identity platform launched in 2019 by InfoCert, combining Self-Sovereign Identity principles with eIDAS regulatory compliance. The platform is built on a four-layer architecture leveraging the Sovrin Network for its verifiable data registry, with plans to support the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) and KERI framework.

The technical implementation uses W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and DIDComm protocols for communication, while credential exchange is handled through Hyperledger Aries protocols. Notable features include:

  • Identity Credentials with three assurance levels (Low, Medium, Substantial)
  • Zero-Knowledge Proofs for privacy-preserving verification
  • Integration with qualified electronic signatures through InfoCert's QTSP capabilities
  • DIZ token based on Algorand for credential monetization
  • Mobile wallet applications for iOS and Android

The project has received funding through the EU's Horizon 2020 program as part of the IMPULSE consortium focusing on digital identity for public services. Key partnerships include participation in the OpenWallet Foundation and collaboration with European digital identity initiatives. The platform targets use cases in financial services, healthcare, and corporate identity management while maintaining compliance with eIDAS regulations.

Tech Stack Self Description
Source
Layer 1| The verifiable data registry can be implemented on different public utilities offering the right DID methods. In the current release, Dizme DIDs are rooted on the Sovrin Network. Future plan includes the options to move to EBSI public utility and to adopt KERI ledgerless framework. Layer 2| The Dizme communication layer is based on DIDcomm specification managing public DIDs for entities and peerDIDs for individuals. In this way Dizme enables people, organizations and things to have full control of their end of the digital relationships they sustain. Layer 3| This is the layer where issuers, holders, and verifiers exchange credentials and proofs using Hyperledger Aries credential exchange protocols. On the governance half of the stack, Dizme Governance Frameworks (DGF) sets the rules for interoperability and scalability of our digital trust ecosystems. DGF specifies the credential schema definitions, the rules governing who can serve as the authoritative issuers for those credentials and the policies those issuers must follow to issue and revoke those credentials.
