Mission Statement

To create a world-wide ecosystem where the qualifications and certifications of an individual are safely and securely managed, reducing risks of falsifications thus facilitating the portability process of such certifications.
Summary
Source

DiploMe is a blockchain-based digital credential service launched in 2019 that enables secure issuance and sharing of educational qualifications and certifications. The platform operates on an open permissioned network where participation is open but nodes are managed exclusively by trusted entities. It implements a decentralized ecosystem for managing academic credentials while reducing fraud risks and simplifying credential portability across borders.

The technical implementation uses double encryption for stored credential data and follows an open data format using JSON. The system assigns users a secure digital wallet where they can store and control sharing of their verified credentials. Notable features include:

  • Tamper-proof storage of qualification metadata
  • Integration with existing digital services through open APIs
  • Compliance with GDPR data protection requirements
  • Support for the European Qualification Passport for Refugees (EQPR) program

DiploMe has gained adoption particularly through its partnership with CIMEA (the Italian ENIC-NARIC center) and integration with the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI). The platform is being used to digitize the EQPR process in collaboration with the Council of Europe, allowing refugees to securely store and share their qualification assessments with universities and employers across Europe. Key verifiers include the University of Cagliari and various European higher education institutions participating in refugee qualification recognition programs.

Tech Stack Self Description
Source
diplome works on existing open permissioned network where anyone is allowed to participate to the service but nodes are exclusively managed by trusted entities, guaranteeing therefore at the same time decentralization and security of the stored information. If an organization already runs its own digitalized services, diplome can integrate openly with them guaranteeing a secure data exchange.
