DIDI is a Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) project launched in 2019 that aims to provide digital identity solutions for people in poverty and informal environments in Argentina. The project implements W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and W3C Verifiable Credentials standards on the RSK Blockchain, originally built using uPort technology.
The core technical implementation consists of a mobile application called ai·di that serves as a digital wallet for managing verifiable credentials. When users create an account, they receive a DID and can validate their identity through biometric data verification with RENAPER (Argentina's National Registry of Persons). The system enables:
