DIDAS - Digital Identity and Data Sovereignty Association

The Digital Identity and Data Sovereignty Association (DIDAS) is a Swiss non-profit organization established in 2020 to promote Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) adoption and development in Switzerland. Based in the Canton of Zug, DIDAS serves as a neutral platform bringing together private individuals, businesses, NGOs, government agencies, and educational institutions to advance digital identity solutions while emphasizing privacy protection and data sovereignty principles.

The organization focuses on implementing SSI technologies that enable secure credential exchange between parties through several key technical capabilities:

• Support for W3C Verifiable Credentials
• Implementation of secure credential storage and sharing
• Privacy-preserving selective disclosure of information
• Development of standards-based identity solutions
• Integration with existing Swiss digital infrastructure

DIDAS maintains active working groups focused on various sectors including healthcare, where they have contributed to discussions around electronic patient records (EPR) implementation. The organization has also been involved in Switzerland's E-ID development, submitting position papers and technical recommendations regarding the Electronic Identity Act (BGEID). Notable founding members include the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Swisscom Blockchain AG, and several Swiss technology experts and entrepreneurs who continue to shape the country's digital identity landscape.
