Amlet enhances customer due diligence for financial institutions by automating KYC processes using the Self-Sovereign Identity framework.
Summary
Source

Amlet is a Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI)-based solution launched in 2021 that focuses on automating Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes for financial institutions. The platform leverages W3C standards and integrates with the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI) framework to enable portable and reusable customer verification credentials. Key technical features include:

  • Integration with verifiable credentials for identity verification
  • Support for selective disclosure of personal information
  • Compliance with EU AML Directives and European Banking Authority guidelines
  • Machine-assisted due diligence automation using AI for risk forecasting
  • Integration with existing banking infrastructure through SaaS delivery model

The project has gained notable traction through several initiatives and partnerships. Amlet was selected for the IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator program in 2021 as one of the top 15 promising projects globally. The solution is currently being piloted with Illimity and Banca Reale in Italy, where it is part of a broader consortium of technology providers working on SSI implementation. The project also received support from the European Union's Next Generation Internet initiative through the eSSIF-LAB accelerator program, helping advance its integration with European digital identity standards.
