Summary

3air Platform is a blockchain-based telecommunications infrastructure project launched in 2023 that aims to provide broadband internet connectivity and digital identity services in Africa. The platform combines proprietary wireless broadband technology with blockchain-based services built on the SKALE Network, an Ethereum-compatible blockchain.

The core technical infrastructure uses K3 Telecom's proprietary wireless technology to deliver high-speed broadband (up to 1 Gbps) within a 50-mile radius without requiring traditional fiber optic cables. On the blockchain side, the platform implements several key features including:

  • Digital Identity Management for user verification and credit scoring
  • NFT-based Internet Subscriptions that can be transferred between users
  • DeFi Services including staking, yield farming and microloans
  • Learn-to-Earn and loyalty programs to drive adoption

The project initially planned to build on Cardano but switched to SKALE Network in early 2022 to leverage its zero-gas-fee transactions and EVM compatibility. 3air has established partnerships with the Africa Chamber of Digital Commerce and various African governments to support digital infrastructure development. Initial deployments are planned across multiple African countries including Ethiopia, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the goal of connecting millions of users to high-speed internet and blockchain services.
